The Vanderhof and Kirby families couldn't possibly be more obscenely different from each other.  However, when the youngest Vanderhof falls in love with the youngest Kirby, the two families must strive to settle their differences over dinner for the sake of their children.  Things don’t go quite as planned, though.  In fact, things go terribly awry when the Kirbys arrive for dinner the night before the planned event.  Sanity is one thing that everyone seems to lack, and as the Vanderhof family presents their unplanned and hilarious worst, the engagement of the lovers is thrown into the mix.  If the two families cannot find a rational way to settle their differences, a large possibility exists of complete and utter household destruction.
